Ingredients
For the Dough
- All Purpose Flour – 2 cups
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Salt
- Warm Water , to knead
For the Filling
- Tilapia Filet – 5 (1.3 lb)
- Oil – 8-10 tbsp
- Onion paste , large – 2
- Ginger paste – 2 inch
- Garlic paste – 4 cloves
- Boiled Potato , medium – 3
- Turmeric powder – 1 1/2 tsp
- Red Chili powder – 2 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tbsp
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp
- Salt , to taste
Filling Yields : 18 Parathas
Method
1. Add all ingredients for the dough in a large bowl except water and mix thoroughly.
2. Now add water little by little until it forms a soft pliable dough.
3. Cover with a moist cloth and set aside for 20-30 minutes.
4. Boil fish and potato separately and mash them.
5. Heat oil in a large pan, add onion-ginger-garlic paste and fry until oil starts to separate from the sides.
6. Now add mashed fish , salt , sugar , turmeric and red chili powder , combine well and fry until oil starts to come out from the sides.
7. Add mashed potato and garam masala powder , cook until dry.
8. Make big lemon size balls from the dough ( 5-6 ).
9. With the help of a rolling pin make a thick circle of about 5 inch diameter.
10. Take 2 spoonful of filling and spread it on paratha surface.
11. Now cut one side of the paratha and roll it to make a cone shape.
12. Now place it on your palm and press it gently to give it a round shape.
13. Dust it with flour and roll a thick circle of about 6-7 inch diameter.
14. Heat a tawa or non stick pan , place the stuffed parathas.
15. Cook both sides on medium heat until brown spots starts to appear.
16. Pour 1 tsp of oil or ghee and cook both sides.
17. Serve hot with ketchup or pickle or raita.
** You can make fish samosas or fish cutlets using the same filling. **
